'Max'
Friday, February 20, 2009 at 9:26PM
Max is my new car (yes I am sad enough to name my modes of transportation).
There was a drama surrounding the early days of ownership (in that I couldn't collect it for a week because of the snow) but things have been great since picking it up. It's got a great grip on the road and provides a remarkably comfortable ride thanks to it's bucket seats. The interior is finished in black leather and the seat are black and charcoal grey upholstery.
I've decided to upgrade the stereo. It currently has a CD player (it may actually be a multi-disc player) as well as a tape player (weird because I'm pretty sure they weren't releasing albums on cassette in 2004 when turn car was made!). After a lot of research, I decided on the Kenwod DNX5220. It's a double DIN unit with a large touchscreen and built-in satnav (courtesy of Garmin - ironic since I brought a Garmin satnav when we returned to the UK. Needless to say, it's on eBay). It even plays DVDs and DivX! It was supposed to be fitted this morning but the car audio shop (who, up until this point had been very helpful) have not had the correct fascia delivered yet.
I've been wrestling with the urge to buy some 17" alloy wheels for max (to replace the 15" steel ones) but I'm not sure I can justify the £500 cost involved just to pimp my ride! Maybe Fi needs an idea for my birthday...
On the subject of Fi, we have to drive back to my parents this afternoon as I have the GP selection exams tomorrow morning in Oxford. I'm going to try to persuade her to drive. This could bite me in the arse as she might like it a little bit too much...
I'll put some pictures up of Max when I've (a) taken some and (b) cleaned him (motorway driving and the snow have dirtied him somewhat).
