My name is Garry Pettet and I am currently working as an Emergency Department Resident Medical Officer in Adelaide, Australia. I’ve been out here in Australia since September 2007 with my wife Fiona.
I grew up in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire where I spent all of my childhood. I went to the John Hampden Grammar School where I stayed until I completed my A-Levels in Biology, Maths, Chemistry and Further Maths. After school, I moved to London where I studied Medicine at Imperial College School of Medicine. During that time I also obtained a first-class honours BSc in Surgery & Anaesthesia. I graduated in June 2005.
After Medical School, I did my F1 year at Weston General Hospital in Weston-super-Mare in Somerset, where I met my wife, Fiona. After Weston, I spent a year in Torquay working as a F2 doctor in A&E, Stroke Medicine and ENT.
I didn’t travel very much at Medical School, nor did I go abroad for my elective. This was was one of the reasons for working and living in Adelaide, Australia for 18 months from 2007 until the beginning of this year. I’m currently back in the UK on a General Surgical training programme.
During my time at Medical School I was an avid badminton player. My other interests include computer programming, painting miniatures, cooking, travelling and teaching.
I have the following goals in my life:
1. Have a family with the woman I love (that’ll be Fiona)
2. Learn to speak French
3. Learn to play the piano
4. Travel as much as possible
5. Learn to fly
6. Own a house
7. Be a good teacher of Medicine
8. Get a book published
9. Write a piece of software that is used and enjoyed by others
I’m really pleased that you have taken the time to visit my site. Please feel free to contact me, it would be great to hear from you!
