To Queue or Not To Queue?
Disclaimer: I actually wrote this post last night (Wednesday the 23rd) but was under the delusion that my blog is popular enough that someone would read it, suss out my plans and add to the length of the queue!
A fairly pointless question really since I’ve already decided that I’m going to wait in line to try to nab one of the new iPhones at launch tomorrow.
I’ve been debating for a few days about the best way of scoring an iPhone. My best chance of definitely getting one is most likely to wait in line outside the Apple retail store in Cabot’s Circus because, of all the retailers, Apple is most likely to have the greatest number in stock. I popped into the store today though and the manager there reckons I would probably have to queue from 04:00 to be sure that I was near the front of the line (I need to be near the front as I must be at work by 09:00). I really don’t fancy the idea of hanging around Bristol’s city centre in the early hours of the morning.
I then thought I would wait outside the big Carphone Warehouse in Broadmead. One of the staff members yesterday thought that if I arrived by 07:30 I’d easily be at the front of the line. I was convinced and thought I would get there somewhere between 06:00 and 06:30. All was well until today when I read on the ‘net that Carphone Warehouse was going to be getting very limited stocks. I visited the shop again today at lunch to seek advice and was told in no uncertain terms that they were not going to be selling the iPhone to new customers. Arse.
So I’ve decided to go for plan B. The big Vodafone shop in Broadmead is just a few doors down from Carphone Warehouse. The problem with them is that they aren’t opening until 08:30 (that will be cutting it close for work). The chap in there said that they had just received shipment of 30 iPhones of varying capacities and would be selling to all customers on a first-come-first-serve basis. I’m going to try to get there for 06:00 so I’m first in line.
I must be crazy.
