Dinner At Ours
Damn wine – why do you make it so easy to over-indulge!
Fi and I had some of our closest friends over for dinner last night (Katie, Pauli, Sam and Jo) and it was really nice. Apart from Katie, it was the first time they had seen the house in any form of liveable state. I think they were impressed. It’s always nice when people compliment something you’ve been slaving over for months! On the subject of home improvement – we really need to make a final push and paint the hallway – it’s half done but since the floor was laid neither of us have had the energy to do anymore DIY. It’s not going to happen this weekend though that’s for sure, since I’m working (again).
Anyway – back to dinner. Fi had the day off having worked last weekend (yes I do see my wife sometimes) and prepared a great meal – homemade butternut squash soup followed by individual toad-in-the-holes and topped off with individual chocolate cakes. It was the first chance we had had to show off our new crockery and cutlery sets (we bought them with our wedding gift vouchers).
Career wobbles were abound last night also with Fi considering GP and me still leaning (read: toppling) towards Radiology. Both of us are just a little fed up of the level of sacrifice we have to make for our jobs. If only I could write a killer piece of software and make some money off of it…
I mentioned yesterday that I was trying out a new podcast – Double Feature. I did and it was shit. Looks like I’ll mosey on down to Podcast Alley to try to find something else.
