Harbourside Fun

I had another really good night (read: plenty of sleep) night shift on Saturday night so Fiona and I decided to visit thee Bristol Harbour Festival which was on in Bristol from Friday until yesterday.

It was surprisingly fun. The festival was a mixture of activities ranging from a fun fair to live music, street performances, a circus and a massive continental food market (where we bought some nice cheeses and some cured wild boar sausage). Since the weather was gorgeous yesterday (probably the first bit of sunshine we have seen for weeks) it was really busy. I read that an estimated 200,000 people were visiting Bristol over the weekend to attend the festival. Overall it was a good way to spend a sunny day.

Last night wasn’t too bad at work. I re-watched Apollo 13 as I hadn’t seen it for the best part of a decade and, what with the recent anniversary of the moon-landing, was feeling in the mood for a space-based film. I spent a while afterwards sorting out how many power sockets we need in the house and where I want them as I am meeting the electrician today. I did have to get up for an hour or so at around 03:00 to admit someone with a possible retropharyngeal abscess but I have managed to get about 5 1/2 hours sleep.

I’m currently writing this blog from the Costa Coffee shop near Southmead on my way to do the weekly shopping at Sainsbury’s. I really need to do a couple of hours of revision today – I hope my lack of sleep doesn’t catch up on me.
