Packing

The last couple of days have involved a lot of packing. Fi and I spent most of Sunday afternoon packing up our flat into boxes. I had the daytime off yesterday before my night shift and spent a lot of it packing too. We’ve almost finished now, all our belongings have been reduced to about seven boxes and two pieces if luggage – quite depressing really.

Sunday morning was nice. We had to get up reasonably early (09:00) as one of the nurses from Fi’s hospital (Liz) was coming around to look at the flat as she needs somewhere to rent. She seemed nice but was very loud. After she left, we packed a picnic and drove to the Mount Lofty Botanic Gardens, which we’d never been to before. The view from near the lower car park (next to a lake) was picturesque and I managed to take this nice picture of a black swan:

We walked for a bit up through the gardens and headed through the fern area – growing ever more conscious of the likelihood of seeing a snake. Luck, it would seem, was on our side and we didn’t see any form of harmful wildlife although we did see a lot of lizards scurrying about.

We then headed back down to the car, grabbed our picnic and sat on some benches to enjoy the sun.

Sunday afternoon was, as mentioned earlier, spent packing as was much of my day yesterday. I did have a rather flustered period in the morning as it took me a lot longer than I had expected to get the car cleaned (there was a queue at the jet wash) and Salam came around to buy the TV and a woman and her mum came round to look at the car, all within a short space of time. The mum seemed to know a lot more about cars than I did (not too hard if I’m honest) and I’m not convinced they’ll buy it. Not that it matters I guess as I’m going to take it to a car auction place when I wake up today to try to get rid of it.
