Bye Bye RAV
I’m writing this on my iPod Touch whilst waiting for a taxi. I’ve just driven to the car auction house and dropped off the RAV. It’s a bit of a distance from our house and I’m pretty tired having just finished my first of three night shifts and suffering from a cold (if you can tell me how it’s possible to catch a cold in 35 degrees heat I’d love to know). I’ve only managed about 5 1/2 hours sleep and I’m not convinced I’m going to get much more today. I loathe shift work.
We’ve set a reserve price of $8000 and I hope it sells for that (or more obviously). If it meets it’s reserve it’ll be sold, if it doesn’t then they’ll call us with the nearest offer. $8000 would be nice as half of that would be about £1700 towards my next car (hopefully a Mazda MX-5). If I understand this auction system correctly, they add 10% to the reserve we set (so the reserve, in this case, becomes $8800). I assume that they take 10% of the total sale. More than reasonable I think (assuming everything goes to plan).
The auction is Thursday so we’ll have to wait until then to see how we’ve done.
