More Fun In PICU
I have had two interesting days in PICU. Yesterday, I had my own patient to look after! I had the child with severe head injuries following a RTA. Went to the pub with one of the PICU F2 doctors after work on Tuesday and had a few pints of the amber good stuff and put the world to rights. He has a really nice restored Triumph TR4 that he took me for a spin in around the Clifton Downs (before the pub I hasten to add!). I walked to the Children’s Hospital to pick Fiona up from work and couldn’t stop hiccuping!
Today I put a femoral line in my patient under the Consultant’s watchful eye and got it first time which I was really proud of. I had a few attempts at inserting an arterial line and almost got it first time but the boy moved (so we turned up his sedation). The Registrar eventually got it in the brachial artery. Left work at around 14:00pm after lunch with Fi. I have decided to to have tomorrow and Friday off and just chill at Fi’s flat and work on Play2D (which is making slow but steady process).
Cooked an apple, cider and sausage casserole for Fiona which seemed to go down well. Fi is treating me to dinner tomorrow night but i’m not sure where. I’m really looking forward to it as she is finishing work early.
